astonish and baffle the viewer. Painted between the years of 1490 and 1510, the painting is actually

a triptych, three panels depicting scenes both heavenly and hellish. The garish surrealism on display

in its various scenes is really centuries ahead of its time. A young American student named

Amelia Hamrick picked up on a small detail in the panel depicting hell. She found musical notation

on the buttocks of a figure of a man being crushed by a harp in the scene of hell. She decided

to transcribe the notation and record the brief bit of music. In 2014, she shared a recording

of her notation. She simply titled, The 600-year-old butt song from hell. Of course it went viral
