Exodus chapter 27, verse 1.

0:08.8

You shall make the altar of acacia wood five cubits long and five cubits broad.

0:14.7

The altar shall be square, and its height shall be three cubits.

0:19.2

Now, what's interesting about this verse, along with all these

0:23.0

verses in Exodus chapter 27, is they involve specific instructions for the construction of the

0:32.4

tabernacle where God would meet with his people. So what we see, I mean, down to this should be five cubits long,

0:39.6

five cubits broad, the altar should be square, heights shall be three cubits. And so we see this

0:45.9

what type of wood should be used in construction in this way? Because God is serious about how he is to be worshipped,

1:32.4

about how he is to be approached.

1:35.5

Now, it's not by any means the exact same when we get into the New Testament,

1:40.8

but just think about personal communion with God. Think about worship gatherings

1:47.2

with the church and realize we don't have the freedom to just worship God however we want

1:55.6

on our own terms in a sense. No, God takes seriously how we worship him and he tells us how we should

2:03.1

worship him. So we don't do some of the things we do in our church gatherings just because we

2:10.0

decided it was a good idea. Like the proclamation of the word, the preaching of God's word
