This is a bit of a preview, a summary, I guess, of a series that we're going to be doing on the Constitution and its history.

We're going to take apart the machinery of freedom and figure out how it actually works.

We're kicking off something big, full throttle

90-minute crash course through the history, the ideas, and the hard lessons that led to

the U.S. Constitution. Maybe it's 90 minutes. Who knows? Math, you know, whatever.

But this is the story of the human experiment, the American experience of liberty,

the most audacious act of political engineering and human history.

Because when those founders wrote, we the people, when they wrote it down,

they weren't just writing a document. They were detonating a bomb under the old order of the world.

For thousands of years, humanity lived by the same rule book,

King's rule, priest bless, and everyone else shuts the hell up and pays taxes.

And then one scrappy little group of colonists decided,

maybe just maybe, people could govern themselves.

Not perfectly, certainly not painlessly, but on purpose with intent.

And that idea, when spoken aloud, has refused to die.

But here's one thing about freedom.

It's not magic.
