Summary

Twins Randy and Jason Sklar blow audiences away with their extraordinarily layered stand-up, weaving their delivery alongside, through and around each other’s voices; sparring, arguing and then dropping into perfect sync on a punchline.

We get stuck into their writing process, the difficulties of working as a team when their family lives don’t sync as easily as their creative lives, the challenge of identifying a target audience when you straddle mainstream and alternative, and why the “ball don’t lie”…

25 mins of extras available exclusively to the Insiders Club include how Randy and Jason approach Roast Battles, why they love tagging jokes and the TV pitch it inspired, and we find out which twin is the happiest. We also get an insight into their episode of NPR podcast “This American Life”, when they were made aware of a genuinely mind-blowing possibility about their identities as twins. Are there any words more guaranteed to strike terror into people's hearts than climate comedy?

Jason Sklar the Sklar brothers who are I mean I've never seen an act like it

0:47.2

I've seen a couple of double acts where both performers are twins and I have to say

0:52.4

most of them far newer than Randy and Jay who've been going for some decades.

0:58.0

But we'll get into all of that.

1:00.0

I just want to flake this up by saying they are about as far from a novelty act as you can

1:04.4

imagine given that your preconception might be twins performing together to be something of inherently

1:12.4

a novelty.

1:13.2

The way, I mean, pause this now and watch what they do on YouTube

1:17.4

because they are absolutely adept at sort of encircling one another's narrative. They weave this whole

1:24.2

acts together from the two of them just just talking at the same time doing

1:29.2

stand up about the same things at the same time and they have the ability like my musical

1:35.2

knowledge fails me I was gonna say it's like a symphony but maybe symphonies don't

1:39.4

do this like it it's like two musical melodies kind of weaving around one another and sometimes kind of

1:45.9

refrains come back sometimes they are antagonistic sometimes they're talking about the same thing

1:51.4

sometimes they're talking about a similar but different or shades of different

1:56.0

attitude on the same thing and then bang they can suddenly come in sync and

1:59.5

and just deliver a punchline where it all just crashes together. I mean I absolutely loved them. I saw them do 40 minutes at

2:07.5

flappers in Burbank and thank you for having me to flappers and everyone they're in.
