I am joined by my friend and colleague Zach Clamley.

Zach say hello to the history of England listeners.

Hello history of England listeners it's so lovely to be back with you.

Hope you're all well.

You have heard Zach voice 4 I think everybody.

I was he was very nice and took the job of doing Bannockburn off me which I couldn't possibly

do as a red blooded English one previously.

So Zach is joining us because we've just done a few episodes on Europe in the 17th century

and that fantastic story of the 30 years war I say fantastic story slightly gruesome

story too.

And Zach not only is the author of the podcast when diplomacy fails but he is also a historian,

a published historian that is to say having produced a book on the 30 years war called

For God All the Devil.

And now what a new venture I understand Zach which will talk about it at the end of it

which is well tell us quickly about it.

Well let's just say if you couldn't get enough of the 30 years war in book 4 more in

podcast form I decided to approach you from a completely different angle and go with

historical fiction because in my view there's not enough stories like historical fiction stories

set in that era it's really quite empty so I thought I'd just try my hand at it and

I've been unsurprisingly very obsessed ever since.

Very good we'll talk about that and that's fantastic I might totally agree.
