In a statement issued just before 7 o'clock Monday night, Mr. Trump said Mar-a-Laga was under siege,

raided, occupied by a large group of FBI agents.

It was related to classified information. The former president allegedly took with him to Mar-a-Lago after leaving the White House.

The FBI would have had to convince that federal judge that there was evidence of a crime

and that a search was the only way to retrieve it.

Officials I've spoken to have pushed back on describing this as a raid.

The FBI notified the Secret Service a few hours before the search.

I personally approved the decision to seek a search warrant.

The department does not take such a decision lightly.
