Hello and welcome to day four of We Have Ways in Arnhem podcast special of

extra material to mark the 75th anniversary of the battle and I've been in

Arnhem a by the way we're I'll explain we are in a moment because you can

hear traffic whizzing past I've been here in Arnhem for 24 hours and the

relief has arrived. J.J. Holland is here and I'm on time you know I haven't

been delayed by weather I'm not turning up at three o'clock in the afternoon I'm

here well I need a little bit like brilliant half-os-11 you've been here before

no I just I can't tell you how pumped I have to be here brilliant and I've

never seen the bridge and I've never seen the drop zones or the landing zones

before we sort of drove through them all getting a little bit excited as we

hurtled through and I just can't get over the scale of it it's flipping enormous

it's an enormous bridge and the causeway that runs down into the town is huge

and how different I mean obviously not quite as time act back in

90 would have all was it probably was I think I think I actually think you're you

know there's no there's basically no difference there's the

difference is the buildings which obviously which obviously we're all destroyed

church it's very iconic church yeah yeah yeah that's the west that's right

yeah well where we stood sweet listener is on the bridge and there's a very

famous photograph taken by the Germans of just after the action at the bridge

when they when they'd win called the guys from first ever now here with it with

the wreckage of vehicles and we are stood where that picture was taken yes yes
