Our conversation was recorded the day of Theresa May's press conference following her unsuccessful

talks with the EU 27 in Brussels last week.

I began the interview by asking James whether Theresa May had any strategy other than simply running the clock down and hoping that the prospect of a no-deal Brexit would spook MPs

into voting for the draft withdrawal agreement.

Yeah, I mean, so I think probably she actually doesn't have any strategy other than running down the clock at this point.

She has a parliamentary problem to contend with, obviously.

So she has this, you know, she has given assurances that she's going to put something in front of the Commons in January.

It is unclear how far she has a legal obligation to do that at this point.
