Now, today's expression, oh boy, it's a serious expression. To rain on someone's parade.

Okay, so rain, R-A-I-N.

Personally, I like the rain.

I like it when it rains a little.

I like it when it rains a lot.

What's a parade?

P-A-R-A-D-E.

Well, you know, a parade on the streets.

That's when you might have a marching band and some clowns walking around.

You might see some decorations, maybe a football star, nice cars, something like that. A parade. Everybody loves a parade. But if you are enjoying a parade and it rains, is that good? No, it's terrible. If you're having a parade and it rains and it rains, oh, that's just terrible.

So this is an expression to rain on somebody's parade means somebody is having a good time

and then you say something to destroy the good time.

Somebody is feeling really happy and really excited,

and you say something or do something that destroys their happy feeling or their excitement.
