We were having an argument in the kitchen and I just said to him like, I want a divorce.

And I remember the look on his face.

He was horrified.

And then the same old pattern like a few days later, I would feel bad about something.

And, you know, we would have this most like intimate, like passionate makeup.

And I would just beg for forgiveness.

And I said it multiple times and I remember

every time he kind of just got less affected by what I said. He just kind of rolled his eyes in

the end you know like oh here she goes again. So I was in the space where I was getting really

fairly hopeless and I read or heard something. If you threaten divorce regularly, then you are verbally

or emotionally abusive. And I thought, oh my gosh, I'm kind of living my life and my marriage

thinking that this disrespect is normal and something kind of clicked that day like, this is not

normal. This is not normal love.

And that was a very, very powerful moment of accountability for me to just, like, what I'm

doing here is not okay.
