How do you get your first set at Yuck?

Yeah, it's how do you, because you know, we used to.

Well, I don't know if a lot of the people I explain this to my son the other day, you know, when I started.

And before there, you know, if you wanted to work in the city at the improv or the comic strip, you had to get up really early in the morning and stand online and pick a number.

And then you'd go on that night if you were one of the early ones.

And that's how it wasn't like, bring your shows and anything like that.

Like it was really, did you get a number, what number you, and that was it.

So how did you get your first set?

Yeah, so it seemed to work that way at the Yuck's in Toronto when I was still in Ontario, still in high school.

Because there was this voicemail system where you had to phone in the morning.

Right.

The thing was they wouldn't tell you the list until, like, sort of late afternoon, by that point it was too late for me to try to get there.

But in Vancouver, there was a much, much smaller scene at the time.

We have a much bigger scene now.

And it was actually really easy.

It was just like showing up, you know, and saying I wanted to go up.

And I think I got there maybe a couple hours before the show.

And it was actually pretty easy at that time in Vancouver because there was a fair number of shows and the scene wasn't that big.

I would say maybe there was like 40 people in town doing it.
