I've been a little bit of loser.

You actually seem kind of excited about it.

Well, listen, it's time to show these fans and give them something they deserve.

Because they're so passionate, right?

Everybody says, why are, so why'd you choose this job when there's other options? This fan base is hungry for it and they deserve it and I know you can get that done here and you can do it at a high level. And that passion, you can tell, it resonates with me as well, right? Like man, it's, come on, let's go. I want to feel their energy and we're going to need more excitement out there in between those white lines. It's my job to give it home.

Coach, welcome to Arkansas. It's not been very busy so far, I'm guessing. What's been going on?

Yeah, nonstop, but it's been great. Obviously, first and foremost, getting to know

the so many great people around this area and this great state. But it's been hitting and getting it, right?

Had an excellent team meeting just to put a face with a name with some of these guys.

Got player meetings over the next few days and then you know listen trying to put together a hell

of a high school recruiting class give me a little perspective on just the moment you

realize it's real it's because these conversations happen you know coaching searches are full

of conversations you know and but when it's real and and now you're leaving Memphis, and what are you thinking as you're getting on the plane?

Yeah, listen, Memphis was great to me, and I think hopefully I left it at a better place, and I found it 10 years there, gave everything I had to that program, and we had a lot of success on and off the field.

And so, you know, saying goodbye to those great players and those great people that gave me everything they had as well. It was difficult, but I understood what was on the other side of the horizon. So getting on that plane, it was just such an excitement. And I couldn't wait to get started, right? I mean, I had been nonstop, but when you actually get boots on the ground and to get around, to get into the office, to start making the calls, that was everything. And more than anything, just to be around our players. I want the players that are currently on this roster to understand, I'm their coach now. There's no longer how well you guys played for somebody else. No, that's not part of it. And I think, you know, as I continue to build those relationships, some of those guys, they're going to understand what we're really all about.
