Yeah, thanks, Dan. It's great to be here. For sure, yeah. We're going to get into the book and some of the stuff

in there. But first, let's talk about you and your background. Where did you grow up?

Yeah, well, fortunately, the book's a memoir,

so there'll be some overlap here in those kind of discussions. I grew up, so it's funny,

when people ask me that, I'll say I grew up in California, and then the inevitable next question

is, well, California is a huge state, what part? And the answer is kind of all over the state.

I grew up in foster homes in Los Angeles. And then later, with my adoptive family, we settled in this working

class town called Red Bluff, California, which is way, way up north, part of California,

many people aren't familiar with, kind of rural, dusty, blue-collar town. And then from there, my family

now lives in the Bay Area just outside of San Francisco. But I left when I was 17 and have been

kind of all over the world since, but currently living in New York. How did you end up in California

in the first place? Yeah, well, so my mother, my biological mother, came to the U.S. from Seoul as a young woman from South Korea.

And she was a student in L.A. and at some point along the way I met my father.

And I was born in L.A. and I the way I met my father and I was born in LA and I never knew

anything about my father grew up knowing nothing about that side of my family and then later when

I took 23 in me one of these genetic ancestry tests I learned that I was half Hispanic on my father's
