Hello, I'm Fraser Myers, Deputy Editor of Spiked. Now, last night, Donald Trump staged the

political comeback of the century. He won the US presidential election against all the odds and

against fierce opposition from the establishment. To make sense of this seismic event in

American politics, I'm going to be joined down the line by three brilliant guests

from across the political spectrum, Batcha Ungasagan, Zed Jalani and Nick Gillespie.

First up, I spoke to Batcha Ungasagan, Spike columnist and author of the brilliant book, Second Class.

Batcha, about a year ago, you dared to suggest on Spitzschildegov. and author of the brilliant book, Second Class.

Batchett, about a year ago, you dared to suggest on Spiked that Donald Trump might be making his way back to the White House.

Now, what did you see back then that all the other pundits clearly missed?

It's so amazing because for those of us chronicling the great realignment in American

politics along class lines, there was really nothing surprising here. I mean, I think the only

surprise was how right we have been. But the shifts that we've been pointing out that working class

Americans of all races are defecting from the

Democratic Party, which has become the party of the over-credentialed smug elites and has created a

platform to appeal to the economic interests of the elites, which is wage theft of their

working-class neighbors. You know, we've seen this happening for years. I mean, it took me a while to notice it.

I certainly wasn't on the Trump train in 2016, but certainly by 2020 when Trump was making

massive inroads in the Bronx, you know, when he was gaining with, you know, everybody except,

you know, the people that he was supposed to be the champion of, right, white men or what have you.

He was gaining with everybody else, right?

It became so clear that there was this political realignment happening.

And of course, if you talk to working class people, you just get such a different point of view on things.
