Tomorrow marks 20 years since Billy Smolensky went missing from his home.

And after all that time, some are still searching for him.

They say the areas of interest are in the same spots impacted by the recent flooding.

Now it's leading to a call from Billy Smolenski's family.

NBC, Connecticut's Kevin Guy spoke with his mother and joins us now in studio with her plea, Kevin.

Yeah, Mikeisha, it's all about keeping those eyes open as that area continues to recover.

It was a post of Facebook that offered a unique perspective to storm recovery.

She believes is important, not just for her son's case, but for other families in the area that might also have a missing loved one.

It is important to never lose hope.

Even though it has been 20 years, it's just like it was yesterday for the family of this missing loved one.

Marissa Wright has never lost hope of finding Billy Smilinscape since she joined the search over a decade ago.

There have been so many tips that have come in.

Billy disappeared from his Waterbury home in 2004. His family still doesn't have answers about

what happened, but they're living in a reality that he's no longer here. Now they're searching

for clues and looking for remains that they believe could be in the Nagatuck Valley.

It is definitely not easy work. You know, it takes hours to go through an

area. Recent catastrophic flooding in sections of the valley prompting a plea from Smolenski's family

in this Facebook post. Some of these areas are areas that the police were looking into.

Janice Smolensky, Billy's mom, has kept faith that he'll be found. She's hopeful that

where roadways and riverbanks eroded, human remains could reside. I do feel sorry for these families

and all the tremendous heartache they're going through losing, but also, you know, sometimes a bad

situation can bring a better situation.
