Our guest today is Peter Watts.

He holds a PhD in zoology and resource ecology from the University of British Columbia

and is the author of many books, including the Starfish, Blindsight, and Ecopraxia, and the short story collection 10 monkeys 10 minutes.

And we'll be speaking with him today about his novel The Freesframe Revolution and a short story collection beyond the rift.

Thank you. Okay, and so your new book is called The Freeze Frame Revolution.

So how did this book come about?

Well, it was, the short answer is that Jacob Wiseman from Tachion had been approaching me for a couple

of years to do a novella. The long answer is that I've been writing a series of interconnected stories said in something

I'm calling the Sunflower universe which basically describes the billions year long

voyage of this hollowed out asteroid

whose job is to essentially create

jump gates for whatever post-human beings come along in its wake is kind of my response to all those lazy

writers who sort of get around the light speed barrier by postulating that the

ancients or the progenitors or whatever we call in this week conveniently let built these giant

uh... interstellar super highways and then just went extinct leaving us with

all their best toys to play with

uh... and uh...
