1:10.0 | I mean, I really remember spending a long time just spinning on the question of whether or not change was really possible for me. |
1:18.0 | I was actually just doing a workshop inside the take a break membership and asking people in that workshop to talk about to share why they were doubting their ability to change. |
1:32.0 | Whether it had to do with, you know, my urges are never just going to go away. They're too unmanageable. They're too strong. |
1:39.0 | I hate how it feels to say no. I hate feeling deprived. |
1:43.0 | Maybe they were doubting change because of temptation. Right? It's just my life, my job, the stress I'm under, I'm surrounded by alcohol. |
1:54.0 | Everyone in my life drinks is a big part of my social circle. I'm newly dating. I've been dating for a long time. My partner drinks a lot. |
2:02.0 | They might be doubting change because they don't really believe that saying no is going to lead to a good time. They might believe, and I think a lot of people believe that saying no will help you feel healthier. |
2:16.0 | But a lot of people, myself included for a very long time, are kind of like, okay, I can say no, but not going to have as much fun. |
2:25.0 | I'm not going to feel as connected. In fact, I might feel disconnected wondering what everyone's thinking of me. I'm not going to feel at ease. |
2:33.0 | I'm going to be stuck with this anxiety or the awkwardness. It's just not going to feel as sophisticated or special if I'm not drinking. |
2:41.0 | And then there's doubting really that you can drink less. |
