I want to get into some of Proverbs today and talk about marriage. I'm going to start

with something from Proverbs 39, and this is talking about the wife of noble character. It's

Proverbs 39 starting in verse 10 and going through 31. I'm not going to read all of it.

A wife of noble character who can find.

She is worth far more than rubies.

Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.

She brings in good, not harm, all the days of her life.

And then it goes on to talk about all the work that she does.

She's doing a lot of work here.

She selects wool and flax and works

with eager hands. She is like the merchant ship, bringing her goods from afar. She gets up while it is still night. She provides food for her family. And I'm actually going to skip over some of this. She does a lot of work. But it closes with this. Her children arise and call her blessed. her husband also, and he praises her.

Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.

but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord

is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done and let her works bring her praise

at the city gate. A couple different ways to look at this, but I want to look at it as the writer

of Proverbs was looking at it. From his point of view, he is looking at a wife, and he is looking

at a wife whose character is good and saying how valuable that is, how much more valuable than
