He is the founder and president of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation.

He's the author of several books, including Big Is Beautiful, debunking the mythology of small business,

which I recommend. Rob is here today because he wrote a provocative paper that caught my eye.

It's called Anti-Corporate Broadband Populists' Real Ag destroy the current private sector system.

I will be talking to him about the paper and about what's going on in the world of

broadband more generally. This is, of course, the tech policy podcast. I'm Corbyn Barthold.

So, Rob, basics to begin with. What is your paper about?

What spurred you to write it?

And what spurred you, I dare say, to throw a few sharp elbows at activists?

Yeah.

So, look, I've been involved in broadband policy for, I don't know, 20 years plus.

And the debate used to be about, you know, legitimate complaints, legitimate issues, you know.

Are carriers deploying networks fast enough?

Or are they preserving capital?

Are they deploying networks broadly, geographically broadly enough?

And if so, what should we do about that?

So those are all, you know, what do we do about people without broadband access and affordability? Those are all important
