Summary
Bex joined the police force to protect others. Instead, she became the one who needed protecting—from the people wearing the same badge. It began with patrol cars idling in her rearview mirror, officers waiting for her to drive through town so they could pull her over and accuse her of being drunk. Then came the summons to the lieutenant's office on her nights off. Questions about harmless dinners with friends. Warnings based on nothing more than a cup that might have held alcohol. She wasn't drinking. She wasn't breaking any rules. But the harassment only escalated—especially as she watched her own department mishandle stalking and harassment cases that looked disturbingly like her own.
