Yeah, good to see you as well. Where did you grow up exactly? I grew up in the

Central Valley of California so outside of the town of Modesto in a little town

called Eskalon and my folks had 70 acres about 30 of it 29 of it was planted to ammons nuts and the

other the remaining portion to wine grapes oh okay there were some old carignon vines on there that were about 35 years old when my folks bought the place in 1970.

And then we planted another 12 acres of Zinfandel and I'm 14 or 15 acres of Barbara.

It's unusual for me to speak to an American winemaker who grew up around vines.

Yeah, I grew up straight from the farm, from the farm to the winery.

So how did that work?

My dad's folks were Portuguese immigrants and they had large vineyards

in the Mantika, rippEscalon area that he farmed and their home ranch was about 60 acres of which most of it was old vine

Greenwich and old vine of which most of it was Old Vine Greenwich.

Old Vine Tess was, you know, 45, 50 years old.
