| 0:00.0 | 2013, I go to this meet and I have my eye set on breaking the all-time world record total with no knee sleeves, like completely raw. Show up at the meet, don't realize that USPA, because I had never lifted in USPA, was a walkout meet. I hadn't walked out since USAPL in 2004. So I've been doing all these big lifts and monoliths. You know, and I said, whatever, I'll still do it. I'm already here. Ended up squatting like the third highest of all time. And I ended up with the third highest total of all time, my first raw meat. But my squat knocked my bench and my deadlift to pieces just based on the fact that I was holding the bar for quite a bit longer to walk out. |
| 0:37.6 | Yeah. |
| 0:41.5 | And I was starting to lose my conditioning because I was 305 pounds. |
| 0:43.7 | And I wasn't doing warm-ups. |
| 0:46.8 | And I wasn't doing enough volume total for the workout. |
| 0:48.1 | So, |
| 0:57.8 | So sit down, keep it real, and cut the bullshit. |
| 0:59.8 | Welcome to Table Talk. |
| 1:03.1 | All right, guys, we're back on another episode of Table Talk. |
| 1:05.0 | My guest, again, is Matt winning. |
| 1:06.9 | Congratulations on your doctorate. |
| 1:08.4 | So we'll just jump off with that. |
| 1:10.7 | Really no need for the intro. |
| 1:13.7 | Matt's been on podcast, 121, 130. |
| 1:15.2 | I had to take a deep breath first, right? |
| 1:19.5 | 121, 133, 208 and 265. |
| 1:22.6 | So we're going to try to cover some topics we haven't covered in the past. |
| 1:25.4 | Maybe there'll be some circling back on certain things. |
| 1:44.8 | Where I'd like to jump off with is some questions from our crew members. I want to thank the crew members without those. Without you guys, probably wouldn't have a podcast, you know, so it helps supplement the podcast tremendously. So the first one, I'm going to do a few of these when then we'll get into the meat. Yeah, sure. We wanted to talk about. |
| 1:48.3 | So the first one's congratulating you on your doctorate, which I just kind of did. |
| 1:59.5 | Small habits that you, small habits that you do to maintain the cascade of negative events that you have in your life and training and so forth. |
| 2:21.0 | Well, the big thing with that for me is, is I've always went to bed early. And I try to tell people this, you know, a lot. And they, you know, they can pull a shit or they don't believe that that's the magic. But in reality, like, I've always went to bed even when I was a kid, like around 8.30, 9 o'clock at latest 9.30. And if I don't, I can feel it in my training within the next three to four training days. Like, my body just needs that recovery. And so that's a |
