So you've written a book called Thirsty Dragon.

How did you get the idea for that book?

I mean, what was the process where you said,

I'd like to write that. I arrived in Bordeaux 15 years ago and I wanted to write a book and I knew I wanted to write about the business of wine. I wanted to write about

creating a market and I was looking for a story and then I was a correspondent for the news agency, AFP, the French news agency.

So I was covering a lot of business stories.

And then through all my contacts in the wine business, I already knew the border was trying to sell

wine in China, trying to build that market. And then when, essentially during the banking

crisis, it's when the Chinese really first started buying on Primer as a

futures commodity. So around 2008? In 2009. And I was already covering the the

banking crisis in terms of wine and Porto and it just I just sensed it I sensed that China had arrived you might say just in the nick of time and then the story started developing in 2010 I started

writing a column in China and I just watched the story in full and I think this is the

story I have to write it came to I was looking, actively looking for a story but it was just

this cast of characters and I come from a television and screenwriting background and I wrote a movie of the thriller so I look for I look for suspense I look for

adventure I look for interesting characters and I had it right there in front of me
