And we have one spooky story for you today and our story today comes from Sybil.

To understand the stories, you have to hold the fact that my parents

thought it was completely normal, almost uninteresting to see spirits and have supernatural experiences.

Their lackadaisical attitude mystified me because I have always been scared shitless of ghosts,

despite having a sincere interest in knowing the truth about things.

My dad was 20 years older than my mom.

He was from Northern Ireland,

born in one war and signed up for the next big one.

He was the youngest, with almost a decade gap between him and his next sibling.

A gap left by the deaths of two of his siblings.

He was the only boy in a family where six children lived to adulthood.

My mom is the child of two Eastern Europeans who were both children of homesteaders,

who broke the land on the Canadian prairie at the very beginning of

the 20th century. Mom was the youngest, and the only girl in a family of four children who lived,

and, like my father, born about a decade after the next youngest siblings. They both considered

themselves only children in a particular way, very much on the outside looking inward on the relationships of others in their families.

They were both silent little observers, and independent as children, and grew into uber-practical, stoic people, reflecting cultures with strong religious beliefs tied to matter-of-fact attitudes

towards ghosts, spirits, angels and demons.
