Hello, my name's Justin the Clue, and I'm here today with Will Sloan, and you're listening to the Important Cinema Club.

And today, we're talking about one of the greatest action filmmakers ever, Jung Woping.

You know, in the 2000s, seemingly every action movie was promoted as being

from the fight choreographer behind Kill Bill, The Matrix, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

He also lent his talents to such high-profile U.S. releases as Kung Fu Hustle, the Forbidden

Kingdom, Fearless, the Grandmaster, and Unleashed. And for the love of all that is sacred, please, if you meet him in the street, do not ask him about those movies.

There is a Lincoln Center interview with him where he came and took some of war and they screened a bunch of his films.

And they even say during the Q&A, please don't ask him about the American films.

Like, he's probably answered over and over and over again questions about those films.

And they're nowhere near his best work.

No.

And I think that's why he looks at them and he's like, this is what people will mostly remember

me by worldwide.

Is this?

Like, The Matrix.

So good, amazing movie, great action choreography compared to what he was doing 25 years before, baby time.

There is a category at the Hong Kong Film Awards for Best Action Choreography, which is something that would be

unthinkable at the Oscars. But, you know, the thing is, with some of the movies that you and Wu Ping worked on,

he really almost rises to the level of co and Wu Ping worked on, he really almost

rises to the level of co-author.

I mean, once upon a time in China, too, is almost as much a Yuan Wu Ping movie as it

is a Choi Hark movie.
