Summary

From a busy physician’s schedule that left her missing precious moments with her kids, to becoming a life coach and building a life filled with purpose, presence, and joy, Edie shares the mindset shifts and practical tools that helped her redefine what success really means. If you’ve ever looked at your life “on paper” and wondered why it doesn’t feel as good as it looks—or if you’ve felt restless in a season that seems stable—this conversation will encourage you to think bigger, live more intentionally, and design a life that truly fits who you are. Why traditional definitions of success often leave us restless and unfulfilled. The pivotal moments that led Edie to leave her career in medicine. How to identify what you really want (without dismissing it as selfish or unrealistic). The essential skills that create real success: emotional strength, mindset renewal, resilience, and goal-setting. Two powerful questions to help you discover your own definition of success. 🎯 Join The Most Magical 90 + Virtual Christian Life Coaching Summit: https://www.ediewadsworthcoaching.com/mostmagical90  — You’ll get both experiences for the price of one! Oh, hi, dear ones. Welcome back to House of Joy. So happy you're here today. Today is a, it's kind of a

0:24.6

different one. It's a solo episode. It's just me today. And I'm going to be talking about the surprising

0:29.9

truth about success and why I walked away from medicine. This came up recently, actually at a family gathering that we had so I wanted to tell you kind of

0:41.6

what happened there and what it got me thinking about and then I have a fun invitation for you

0:47.6

at the end but this whole thing brought me back to like stuff that happened I don, 15 years ago, but how relevant it is to my

life now. And I do think that when we think about the topic of success, when you hear that

word, I would be really curious for you what comes to mind. But for most people, it is things

1:09.7

like, you know, the car you drive, the amount of money you have in

1:15.9

the bank, a big job title, your dream house, some kind of recognition, you know, for what

1:22.4

you're doing. And I even looked this up. The American Psychological Association found that

1:27.2

74% of people

1:28.7

define success like this in terms of career achievement, money, or social status or whatever.

1:34.8

And yet, I think that we are living in a time where the rates of burnout and anxiety and depression

1:40.8

are higher than ever. And I think it is time for us to rethink this.

1:46.6

And I've been doing this over the past 15 years

1:49.0

because I gave up a very successful, I put in air quotes,

1:53.5

a very successful, recognized career with a lot of status

1:58.5

to do something that most people don't understand. So I went from a

2:04.6

physician to a life coach. And, you know, 15 years ago, I had a life that most people thought

2:12.3

they would want that, you know, people that on the outside looked really successful. I also read
