Before we get into today's episode, we wanted to briefly talk about the protests and uprisings

that have been going on in all 50 states and around the world in support of Black Lives Matter,

a cause we absolutely support even though we have to admit. This has generally been a whitey white podcast.

That's not due to any intention on our part, but that's how unconscious bias

works. We could have done a lot more to interrogate ourselves on that and on our blind spots

before now. We didn't, and that's our failure to own. Our next few episodes are booked,

so you're not going to notice a change right away. But due to the conversations

that have arisen around the recent protests, as well as in response to feedback from listeners

who want us to do better, we are changing the way we book the show, the way we program our lead

topics, and the way we're broadening our pool of guests. In the meantime, we are going to listen,

learn and support the vision of black organizers, and open up our wallets. Picking up the baton from our friends at Who Weekly, we are

donating half our ad revenue from this month to a pair of very worthy causes. First, the Minneapolis

Sanctuary Hotel, a mutual aid community that sprang up

spontaneously during the uprisings in the city at the end of May and has housed close to 200

people so far in addition to providing a variety of other services. Second, the homeless black

trans women fund in Atlanta, supporting women who lack resources at the best of times,

which this is not.
