But we've all had the experience of looking directly at the son and then sort of being blinded for a time because the light, as we say,

dazzled our eyes. Well, that's just created light. The light in which Christ dwells is uncreated.

For he is, as the church confesses in the Nicene Creed, God of God, light of light.

The Word of the Lord endures forever is a daily verse-by-verse

Bible study with the church, past and present. Pastor Whedon is leading us in a study of the

book of First Timothy. The grace of our Lord Jesus, Christ, the love of God, and the communion

of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

Greetings, people, loved by God. I'm always amazed when we come to an end of a book so quickly.

Today we wrap up First Timothy. Last time, recall, Paul told us that godliness with contentment

really is a great gain. To be able to live thankfully in this world, to find in Jesus everything you need for time

and eternity, and to know that you have a heavenly father who loves you, who gives you your daily

bread, this is the stuff that contentment is made out of.

So Paul insists that if we have enough food and clothing, that's all we need.
