Well, happy Friday and welcome back to the Beginners Garden podcast. I honestly hope that as you're

listening to this, that you're in your garden. I hope that the weather is conducive for you to get out in

the garden and listen to a gardening podcast. That's what I'm usually doing and I hope the same for you.

In today's special Friday episode of the Beginners Starter Guide series, we're going to be

talking about green beans. Green beans is one that I actually love talking about because it was one of

the first crops that I grew as a first time gardener, and it was the first crop that I was able

to grow enough to be able to can to last our family year round. That has always

been my goal for as many vegetables as possible just to be able to provide year round for as much

as I could out of my garden. And green beans was the first crop that I was able to check that box

recommend growing if your family enjoys it because it is one of the easier crops, I would say,

to grow. But there are some things that you want to know

about how green beans grow best, some issues that you might encounter, and how you can work toward

getting as many green beans as you want in your garden. First, let's talk about the growing season

of green beans. Green beans like warm weather.

They do not like frost, so it's best for you to make sure that you get them planted and growing

after your last frost of the spring has passed. But don't just go off of that planting date,

because that was a mistake that I had made as a

beginner is I would say okay my average last frost date is April 1st and it seems like I saw

recently where they've moved it to April 8th which makes sense because we haven't had a last

frost in the early part of April in years but all that to say I would take that average last
