On December 17th, 2019, the fledgling rocket ship known as the Lincoln Project lifted off.

I tell people that, you know, when we first launched, we had an op-ed in the New York Times,

a bank account, and a website, and an idea.

It started from humble beginnings.

I thought that we were going to raise about $25,000 that last two weeks of 2019.

We did this. We raised about $400,000, which surprised all of us.

And it was something that we didn't know what we had, but we should remember, too, that really

from that moment until basically early May, we were something of an oddity, Republicans who were

going against Trump, and raising
