Our guest today is Craig Shaw Gardner.

His 1986 novel A Malady of Magics, about a wizard who becomes allergic to magic

is a classic of funny fantasy, and he's also written many other

novels including dragon sleeping the other sin bad slaves of the volcano god and

the changeling war he's also written novelizations for movies such as back to the Future 2 and Tim Burton's Batman,

and for video games such as Wishbringer and the seventh guest.

And we'll be speaking with him today about temporary monsters, the first book in his most recent

funny fantasy series.

Well, thank you very much.

Okay, so it says on your blog that there was one year where you watched over 400 movies in the theater.

So tell us about that.

Okay, well, when I first got out of college, jobs were hard to come by.

And actually my wife got a job at what was the Orson Will cinema, wonderful cinema doesn't exist anymore.

And all the independent theaters in town,

if you had a job of one of those places, you or your spouse, which is me,

could go to any of the other movies for free. So thus, I would go see movies

like four nights a week and thus we get to 400. So were those good movies, those 400 or...
