episode for a couple months. As I mentioned to the guest Tim Shank, the secret to

booking and appearance of the realignment is putting out a book podcast or a paper

that features the word realignment or some variation thereof in the actual

title. So today the book is realigners, partisan hacks, political

visionaries, and the struggle to rule American democracy. The book is

interesting and this conversation is interesting because it's focused on this

broad theme of how throughout American history have leaders, activists,

political hacks, different sorts of people taking specific ideas and turn those

ideas into sizeable majorities that can actually implement political change.

You all have known I've been really frustrated with this idea that in the

current moment there's a lot of talking, there's a lot of action, and one

needs to basically wait for this decade to come about for any of the bigger

themes we've talked about to be implemented. But this book is really focused on

the question of how does one actually get from that idea to the implementation
