Allen's driving minimalist style, coupled with Mutt Lang's era-defining production

sheen, propelled Defleopard to massive popularity during the 80s and early 90s.

A staple of FM airwaves in MTV, the band's music is inscribed in the consciousness of a generation.

Their logo emblazoned on millions of jean jackets and carnival mirrors. This summer, Def Leppard

released its 12th studio album, Diamond Star Halos. Aside from his work with Def Leppard,

Ellen also performs with his wife, singer-songwriter Lauren Monroe,

with whom he's currently on tour.

And now my conversation with Rick Allen.

My wife and daughter are traveling back from Nashville.

So she played the city winery last night.

So who plays drums for her when you're not available?

Beth Goodfellow is playing drums with her at the moment.

She's really talented she's really really a

good player so it was a bit of a double-edged sword you know sort of working her and knowing i was

talking myself out of a job well you have another job too yeah yes yes do you play with your wife at home? Do you write songs together and jam?

Well, she normally ends up going in to practice guitar and more often than not, she'll knock out

another song. So she's always, always, always busy, you you know actually writing music you know so but
