Hello Heroes and welcome to the 300th episode of One Shot. I'm James Damato, your host in GameMaster.

In over five years and 292 weeks, we have produced fully 300 officially numbered episodes and actually a lot more bonus

episodes that were not numbered.

As someone who grew up with A.D. and organizational problems, the fact that One Shot has managed to stay so consistent

and not miss days over that period of time is one of the things that I am proudest of.

And frankly, there is a lot that I'm proud of about this show and this network.

But enough padding ourselves on the back because we're here to celebrate some other stuff.

And the first is the game that we're featuring this series, The Watch by Anna Karider and Andrew Maderos.

The Watch is a high concept game executed elegantly.

In the watch a group of women and non-binary warriors fight together against a not very subtle metaphor for toxic masculinity.

It's an exploration of feminism, identity, and the ways that everyone struggles with patriarchal structures in our world.

And of course, in the way that role-playing games are so adept at doing,

the watch addresses these issues through empowerment fantasy.

This game is difficult and at times tragic. It deals with a lot of challenging material, but it also wants you to win.

And there's something really beautiful about that that calls to the core of what many role-playing games do so well. I want to put a big content

warning in front of this one. I don't think this game has any more than the

usual violence that you get from one shot, but I think some of the themes might cut

pretty close to home for some people.
