Well, welcome everybody.

I'll just introduce myself a little bit for anybody who doesn't know me.

We must know something or else you wouldn't be here.

But my name is Jennifer Finlayson-Fife and I am LDS and grew up in Vermont,

a Burlington Vermont in a large Mormon family.

One of them is back there taking money, my brother, who used to tease me mercilessly.

But anyway, so I grew up in Vermont.

I went to BYU for my undergraduate degree which I did in psychology and women's studies.

And then I went to Boston College and I got my master's in PhD in counseling psychology

and developed an interest there in thinking about sexuality.

Well, in particular, sexuality for us as Mormon women, I was about to get married,

had friends who were married and miserable in the sexual realm,

was thinking a lot about some of the feminist critiques around patriarchy and sexuality,

as well as really knowing the ways in which I felt the church had really blessed my life

in the sexual realm, the ways in which I felt that the law of chastity had been very protective of me.

And in that it was expecting men to comply with the same standard of sexual behavior,

that being a very domesticated version of sexuality, one that promotes family stability.
