Today, the Bible Study podcast continues the study of Colossians.

Welcome to the Bible Study podcast. I'm your host, Chris Christensen, and this is episode 300.

And to celebrate episode 300, we're going to do a Bible study.

And we're continuing on in Colossians in chapter 3.

And I will warn you that the most controversial verse, the one that people are going to have most problems with, is going to be in this week's episode.

And that's going to be wives, submit yourself to your husbands.

I don't think it needs to be controversial, and we're starting where we're starting in Colossians 3 to put this in perspective. Colossians 3 starting in verse 12, therefore

as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness,

humility, gentleness, and patience.

Bear with each other and forgive one another, if any of you has a grievance against someone.

Forgive as the Lord forgave you, and over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,

since as members of one body you are called to peace and be thankful. Let the message of Christ

dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms,

hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude

in your hearts, and whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord

Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

This short two-paragraph section is summarized as rules for holy living.

And it's not very long, and yet it's fairly comprehensive.

You may remember in the last episode, we talked about all of those things that we were

setting off as an old man's things, all of those old behaviors that we had,

sexual morality, impurity, lust, evil desires, greed, idolatry, all those things that were an old man's things. Paul says they died
