Welcome to the game changer life. I'm Dave Anderson. In this episode, I want to talk about the remedy for entitlement. Entitlement. Entitlement is a mindset that is a stench.

0:23.8

It drains the life out of a culture, drains a life out of an organization. It's this feeling that

0:30.2

you're just owed something, that you're not. And if you look at the definition of entitlement,

0:35.8

it says believing you are owed special rewards, privileges, or treatment.

0:40.0

Well, the problem is when you're not owed it, but you think you are, so you start to expect it.

0:45.1

And in some cases, you even demand it.

1:28.4

worse because when you look at what happens in society, you have to understand how it impacts

1:33.9

organizations. And when you look at the rise of entitlement in society, and most people would

1:40.3

agree, there is a huge rise of entitlement. I speak 120 times a year. I've done this for two

1:44.5

decades. I've spoken in 17 countries. And when I asked the question, have you noticed a rise of

1:50.1

this sense of entitlement in society over the years? Everybody's hand goes up. All the heads nod yes.

1:55.9

Well, here's why that's an issue. Trends in organizations tend to follow trends in society.

2:01.2

So if society becomes more entitled, your organizations are going to feel more entitled

2:05.7

because the people who work in your organizations also happen to live in society,
