part one of 30 facts about 30 Los Angeles neighborhoods. All right y'all let's get into it. So we start with something that happened in LA this week.

The inspiration for this episode goes out to my man Nate Schulman.

He's a graphic design lecturer at Cal State Long Beach and he approached me

to show me a project he was working on, classifying all the neighborhoods in Los Angeles.

And I couldn't believe the number but looking at it it makes

sense let me tell you this. So there's standard cities within LA all right

this is cities with their own elected officials.

Glendale, Whittier, Alhambra, there are 88 of those. That is a firm number.

Then you have unincorporated areas where the Board of Supervisors, County departments provide municipal services and 65% of the county, which is 2,600 square miles is unincorporated.

These are places like Baldwin Hills, New Hall, South El Monte,

and there are 187 of those neighborhoods.
