but don't know what the best wood is then today's episode is for you?

It's a question I've gotten quite a bit this season as a lot of us are starting

our very, very first gardens and trying to build a raised bed.

So they say, okay, hey, what kind of wood should I use?

Is it safe to use this wood?

What is the tree that's the best one?

There's a lot of different things that go into this.

Now, first of all, a general note on wooden raised beds. They're generally cost effective

and they're pretty easy to install provided you have basic construction skills and I'm talking bare bones basic for some of the easiest designs.

What are the cons? Well, wood won't last forever. It's an organic material. It will rot and

it depends on the type of wood that you use how long it will take before it starts to rot.

It will also start to fade and so if you want it to look good until it starts to rot,

well that's not going to happen either because it will

start to fade but there are some things you can do like you could treat it with a certain

organic coating, there's certain things that you can do to extend that.

Now before we get into the type of wood,

you want to use untreated wood, right?

We hear this all the time, don't use treated wood.

Well, what does that mean?
