brutally took their lives and a killer who chose his victims because he was obsessed with their

the city of new orleans was tormented by an axe-wielding

bogeyman, who attacked at night while his victims helplessly slept in their beds. The killer

was brutal and seemingly attacked at random with no clear motive or planning. The killer wouldn't

even bring along his own murder weapon.

His victims were brutally killed with objects found in their own homes, and considering the

name of our killer, many of his victims were killed with their own acts. The 18-month

killing spray began on May 23rd, 1918.

Married couple, Catherine and Joseph Maggio, were found lying in their own beds.

They had been violently attacked in their sleep with their own acts.

Their throats were also both cut with a straight razor, and it was such a vicious, violent attack that it left Catherine nearly decapitated. So we have this super brutal double homicide with no clear motive. Nothing was stolen,
