Iran has launched a missile attack on Israel, triggering sirens across Israel.

CNN teams in Israel, Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv

have counted dozens of missiles flying above them.

Several have been intercepted, but it's unclear how many.

According to an Iranian news agency,

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps

said it targeted Israel in response

to the deaths of Hezbollah leader Hassan-Nizwala and others.

Israel assessed that Iran could attack three Israeli air bases and an intelligence

based north of Tel Aviv.

That's according to a person briefed on the matter.

A US official telling us that the US would be prepared

to help Israel intercept anything that Iran launches their way

as there is concern about what this could mean for the

tension and the conflict in the region at the same time the US is also a

senior White House official in this statement saying that a direct

military attack from Iran against Israel will carry severe consequences

for Iran. The Israeli military says Iran's attack quote will have consequences.

This comes after Israel launched a ground war in southern Lebanon overnight.
