David, it's always great to be with you. And I'm excited to talk about our conversation today because we're debriefing your conversation with Bob Chapman, who is a business guy who believes that business can be

the most powerful force for good in the world. What do you think about that? That's why it's so

important for every company to have a noble cause for the work that they do. That goes way beyond

just making profit. You know, what do you do to make the world a better place? And I think the best companies in the world articulate a mission that really shows how they fit

into the world and what they do to really enhance it.

And that's what I think Bob's trying to get at here.

Bob is the CEO of Barry Waymiller.

When he started working there in 1969, the company was doing

about $18 million. Today, the company is worth $3.5 billion. His core belief is that human growth

fuels economic growth. So we're going to talk about that and some of our questions for

today's episode. David, let's get going.

Bob is incredibly driven by this idea of stewarding the people you have the privilege of leading and creating a culture where people truly know they matter.

He believes that human growth fuels economic growth and has gone from being a, quote,

profit guy to being a people guy. Now, David, I consider you a people guy too. What would you say

to those profit first leaders out there who don't necessarily see their people in the same way?

Well, I'd say they're attacking their business backwards. They're attacking it the

wrong way because I believe that every business will maximize the profit by putting the people

capability first. When you do that, you satisfy more customers through how you treat them, how you serve
