Story one.

Payback time.

I dragged myself toward the tree with my hands,

gritting my teeth as I did.

There was a reddening bolt under my pants just below the knee,

but I tried not to look at it.

I knew it was a compound of fracture.

The bone of my lower legs sticking out of my skin.

I felt sick as I leaned back against the tree,

covered in a chill sweat.

I brought out my phone and unlocked it.

I had no signal.

Of course, there was no signal on this side of the island.

Something sounded off in the jungle,

and I looked up toward the nearby clearing.

A magungusaur stood there, about 15 yards in front of me,

staring at me with its reptilian eyes,

looking a bit like a seven-foot tall T-rex with a horn.

It looked hungry.

It's teeth bloody from a recent feeding,

but it was a big dinosaur.
