What is going on everyone Kevin from Epic Gardening here? We've got a really cool week of

episodes coming up with a guest today's guest and this week's guest is going to be

Dr Mark Merriweather Vorderbruegen, he's the creator of Foraging, Texas, he's the author of Idiot's Guide Foraging,

and then also in his real life, I guess you could say, he's a formulation chemist for consumer products.

So forging is a topic that admittedly I don't know a lot about, but I think some of you know that in June I'm doing my survival challenge where I'm trying to live off of what I can grow fish and forage.

And so obviously one of those three having no knowledge of that going into that challenge is not going to be very successful.

So I figured we would bring Dr Mark on and today we're talking about the basics, common

edible weeds, things that might even be in your garden right now that you should know about. So Dr Mark thanks for coming on. I'm really

excited for this. It's a pleasure to be here. So what should we know about

edible weeds? Are there some classics that we're overlooking or treating as

weeds we should be we should be eating? Most definitely. I've found that in my

opinion and nothing against your your listeners but gardeners work too damn hard.

You know they're struggling with the soil and the plants and trying to make these

you know amazing fruits and vegetables when all around them there are still already

amazing fruits and vegetables. So I'd like to just do a brief introduction to some

really nutritious weeds that most people all across North America are very likely fighting in their garden and in their yard.

And starting probably with the most people

people have heard somewhere along the line that dandelions are edible.

Some of you might have even tasted a leaf or two and thought,

okay, edible if you enjoy strong bitter

flavors. So dandelions do fall in the category of bitter greens. That being said they also fall in the category of
