My math might be a little bit off but I believe I am correct in that it is 10 hours until NFL free agency officially begins is that math right 4 o'clock Eastern.

0:31.0

I believe that is right 10 hours until everything goes wild the NFL has so taken over the American sporting calendar that even in the middle of one of the two best weeks really.

0:46.0

I believe that is really of college basketball when all these conference tournaments are going on when not too long from now in the middle of your work day there's going to be a ton of college basketball on for you to watch for you to gamble on for you to be entertained by.

1:02.0

And we will talk to my guys at odd shark John Campbell at the bottom half of this hour here we'll talk about where to make some money today.

1:10.0

So we'll talk about the odds of NFL free agency you think back to what the NFL used to be way back a long time ago there's great book called America's game by Michael McCambridge if you're at all interested in the history of American sports and in particular the history of the NFL it's an amazing book.

1:30.0

Because I talk about this sometimes a lot of us out there have this idea that the NFL has always been dominant and it always will be dominant and nothing is ever going to change.

1:40.0

And if you go read America's game it's about the massive ascent of the NFL.

1:46.0

And one of the most intriguing battles that the NFL fought over the years was with television.

1:53.0

You know the blackout rules where if you haven't sold enough tickets the game's not going to be on television it used to be that the NFL was terrified of television.

2:03.0

That television was going to kill their gate that television was the great technology that was going to ruin their business instead television ended up being the most important invention for the NFL business probably for any sport it's been important for every sport but I think for the NFL it's been the most important.

2:22.0

And the NFL has been genius about turning every month into an NFL month used to be there was a long off season in football college football does this too but college football by and large the off season is filled with only bad news somebody breaks an NCAA rule somebody gets arrested a coach does something improper almost every college football off season story is a bad one except for

2:51.0

Oh your team is working out so hard they're going to be so much better that freshman you signed and that you know signing day you get a little bit of a blip of attention that's mostly positive.

3:02.0

But signing day even is now not as exciting as it used to be because so many guys have already committed in the recruiting game but the NFL games go September October November January and February usually the first weekend of the season of February is the Super Bowl.

3:19.0

And I think what the NFL is going to do soon within the next five to ten years is they're going to add a couple of weeks to the NFL schedule so that the NFL Super Bowl happens on the Sunday before president's day that's the way the schedule should really go because then Monday is a holiday for a lot of people and the NFL extends its season two more weeks.

3:41.0

And then they could bump back the start of free agency but they are geniuses the start of free agency has become almost as big as the draft it really has.

3:53.0

We got news that Tony Romo is being released and I can open up the phone lines right now and everybody's going to be obsessed with it.

4:03.0

Come five o'clock Eastern four o'clock Central three o'clock Mountain two o'clock Pacific today there's going to be a frenzy of news absolute cavalcade of North of stories breaking about free agency signings.

4:21.0

There's going to be so much money spent by owners in about ten hours now in reality that money's being spent right now because they're all agreeing to deals all the behind the scenes negotiation is going on so that literally at four o'clock Eastern all this news breaks.

4:39.0

And think about what the NFL's done already so we have free agency and by the way that'll take up the rest of the week but certainly it'll take over Thursday already called Jason Martin kind of scheduling Friday show and I said just clear the decks I don't know what's going to happen I don't know what major free agent stories were going to have.

4:57.0

But we won't hardly spend any time talking about the NCAA tournament or the conference tournaments even though it's one of college basketball's biggest weeks.
