Jake's time and Jody reaches its crescendo as he and Sadie finally act upon their feelings.

But it's ultimately not meant to be as Jake's secrets drive a broom-shaped wedge between the two.

Matt, what did you think of this week's reading?

Really interesting stuff in here.

We really went deep down the rabbit hole of, you know,

Jody and the various distractions.

I mean, I call it distractions.

It's sort of become the meat of the book, though.

But what I mean, of course, is distractions from what we thought the main plot was.

I remember you saying very early in the show, like, this is a book about keeping JFK from

getting assassinated, but it's like, you know, a thousand pages long.

So what are we

going to do with all those pages? I wonder. And the answer is basically stuff like this,

where all this time passes and life gets in the way. And he forms human relationships with people.

And he has priorities that distract him from his mission. And he's still trying to follow his mission.
