Summary

Life is a series of transitions from one thing to the next, and this year marks a transition for Des with the move from elite marathoning to her next chapter. This episode is about just that and her documentary titled "The Next Chapter," where she talks about the timing and reasons behind this transition for her. If you haven't checked out the documentary already, then do so here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuPVzH3HN8I. It's a must-watch that will have you wiping your eyes. Kara shares the moment with Des as she relates back to her own transition from elite marathoning.

This episode, however, is not all tears. There are plenty of laughs too, as with any conversation between these two. They also talk about signing and getting autographs, hugs from Taylor Swift, first pitches, Kara's new tattoo, hiding purchases from your partner/spouse, food delivery, and some very fast times on the trails at Tunnel Hill. Plus, you get an update on Kara's running and her dystonia. Though running news was light this week, this conversation has so much good stuff in it.

As always, they finish with an uplifting Top 5 sponsored by Lever Movement. For 15% off on your Lever system, use code NOBODYASKEDUS at levermovement.com.

I'm so good.

0:20.3

You know what's funny was when I was younger and people call me Kara. I would be like, it's Kara, it's Kara. But now that I'm older when people call me, yeah. Like, sure, whatever. I'm like, Kara, Kara, I'm right here. I don't correct anyone. That's my coffee. Yes. That's me. Yep. I just don't care anymore. What's the worst it's been spelled on a cup or something? I mean, it's spelled C. I just got coffee two mornings ago. Saturday morning and it was spelled C-A-R-A. But I mean, there's only two ways to spell it. Makes some sense. Yeah. Desiree gets some crazy iterations.

0:56.2

How, what's the craziest spelling?

0:57.9

First of all, tell us how you spell it.

0:59.5

And then what's the craziest spelling you've seen?

1:06.8

It is spelled D-E-S-I-R-E-E-D-S-I-R-E-E-E-D-E-E-E-S-what I would tell the person.

1:10.2

And they would just put like all kinds of crazy letters.

1:10.9

I don't even know.

1:14.0

So now when I get stuff, I just say I'm Ryan.

1:17.4

Like, you're not going to mess that up, are you?

1:19.9

And it's like a unisex name.

1:21.3

Oh yeah, I know someone named Ryan.

1:23.4

I actually think it's a kick-ass girl's name.

1:23.9

Yeah, yeah.

1:25.2

I mean, I'm not going to take it.

1:25.7

That'd be weird.

1:46.7

I feel like Ryan would be upset, but it's just easier. I could see people trying to spell Desiree and being like, because I mean, my niece's name is Kaylee and there's 50 effing ways to spell Kaylee. It's actually crazy. And people, I feel like they try to spell it differently. Right. I could see how people would be like, Deza, R-A-Y or, you know, all sorts of sisters. There's Ys.

1:47.7

There's. try to spell it differently. Right. So I could see how people would be like, Deza, R-A-Y or, you know, all sorts of things.

1:46.8

There's Y's, I don't know.
