Summary

"If you could smell ringworm... " - Des Linden

Des and Kara took ketones before this episode so you know it's going to be a good one. They start with life updates including a tick bite and a banged-up knee for Des :( and amazing performances from Colt and his team at XC Regionals to qualify for the state meet.

Then, they get spicy and fired up about a host of topics including the recently-announced Treadmill World Championships, a doping storyline on The Morning Show (spoiler alert!), and details about the Ruth Chepngetich doping case. There is plenty to get frustrated about in there, but it is more fun when Des and Kara do it.

Finally, they give a thorough NYC preview covering the international and American fields with hints and picks on who might win and be top American on each side. This is a must-listen before you watch (or run) it on Sunday!

As always, thank you to Brooks Running who is our presenting sponsor.

What's up everybody. Welcome to another episode and nobody asked us with Des and Kara, presented by Bricks Running. We're in a mood today.

0:18.6

Yeah, we are. Fired up. Opinions, opinions, opinions.

0:22.6

And we also have TCS New York City Marathon on deck that will have opinions on that as well.

0:28.5

Where do you want to start?

0:29.5

Should we even catch up or should we just jump in?

0:31.6

I think, let's catch up just a tiny bit.

0:33.8

What have you been up doing the last week?

0:40.3

Not much. I think we'll kind of get into my race plans or not plans maybe next week because we have a bigger race on deck. Um, so I've been

0:46.0

doing some running. It's been good. Um, oh, this is terrible. What? I got a tick bite this weekend.

0:53.5

No. So mad.

0:55.1

So mad.

0:55.7

I found it like right away.

1:11.4

Okay. So it was probably nothing significant. Yeah. And then you say, I didn't even know there was ticks this time of year. I know. They're like tiny, tiny. It's so annoying because the dogs will like, they'll have them on their face and then know, just see them like crawling all of a sudden. You're like, oh, gross. So they're really small. But you have to like, you pull it out and then you'll just see them like crawling all of a sudden you're like oh gross so they're

1:11.1

really small um but you have to like you pull it out and then you save it and you can get it tested

1:16.5

oh so it's like in a container right now i got to take it in where do you take it in i don't know i think

1:22.0

like the urgent care or something the hospital around yeah and you fill out its paperwork i think

1:26.5

and then they murder it and test it.

1:44.5

Well, no, I'm like, can you set it free afterwards? Like, I kind of feel bad. It's just in this container, like, cruising around. Yeah. I don't feel bad, really, though. Yeah. I really... Look, they're so gross. It's so gross. Like I didn't even know what they were.

1:47.6

When I was growing up, like, of course there had to be tics, but I don't really remember them.

1:45.2

And one time I went to a friend's cabin and they didn't have screens in the windows and the windows were open. And we went swimming and I came back and they were on my clothes. And I left. I like started crying and left. I got to go home. I mean, it's like a leech or something. It's the grossest of things.

2:03.1

But now they are really bad where our cabin is in the, like in the early summer. They are bad. I wish they had like a thing like you give to the dogs. They take it once a month and then like they just die when they try to bite them. You know, I mean, like they're not interested. Supposedly. I want that. Yeah, for people.

2:20.5

I see what you mean.
