Summary

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and that means that us parents are faced with the question of what to tell our children about this (somewhat controversial) holiday. You probably remember having a part in the annual school play reenacting the “First Thanksgiving” and you know that’s no longer (and never was) appropriate because it paints a pretty inaccurate picture of what happened all those years ago. But if that’s not what happened, what did? In this episode I share what I’ve learned about the untold story of what actually happened during that harvest festival in the autumn of 1621.

0:58.2	states are gearing up to celebrate thanksgiving and because of that i thought that i should give you a little
1:05.9	replay action so i actually recorded this episode last. I did a lot of digging into the
1:13.4	untold story of Thanksgiving so that we could unpack what actually happened. But here's the
1:18.7	thing. The podcast was only a few months old at that point, and so I think that most of you
1:24.8	probably missed this episode. So I thought, what perfect timing to share it
1:30.4	again so that those of you who missed it can catch it for the first time. And those of you who
1:35.5	have heard it before can have a little refresher. While I was preparing for the replay,
1:40.1	I listened to the episode and I was like, oh yeah, I forgot about that or oh, I'm so glad I
1:47.1	remember that detail now. So I really do think that this is a story that we need to remind ourselves
1:53.1	of each and every year so that we can be cognizant of what actually happened on Thanksgiving
