What's the difference between a national park in a national recreation area?

You know, I don't have the answer to that, Nick.

But I know it's close to some national parks here.

Quite some time. It's around the Grand Canyon. It's around Lake Powell. And if you go up there, you've got to watch out for quicksand. Oh, yeah. It's been pretty wet, and there's a lot of quicksand on these shores. Now, quicksand, unlike the movies, doesn't suck you down and you die. You just get stuck in it and you stand there. You're like halfway down. You go down to your point of buoyancy. Yeah. It would take Mario to other worlds. But we all thought, every other movie we ever watched in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, quickicksand was always around. The reason Quicksand doesn't suck you in in 99% of the instances is because it's pretty shallow.

You know, it happens on shore, so it may suck you down to waist deep, and what might kill you is the exhaustion trying to get out.

You're going to need, like somebody to somebody's got to pull you out. Yeah Yeah, they got to hook up to a Jeep and, you know, pull you out that way. That makes sense. Yeah, you say a lot of these animals that get trapped into quicksand. And they did some big animals, and they got to use some big machinery to help them get out. Yeah, got to prime out. That's scary, man, because you get that bear out of there, then everybody's got to run, you know?

In this case, it's actual bear, too, by the way, on the show. Right, right. So, yeah, Quicksan. I literally just watched with my kids the MythBusters episode about Qusand. Oh really? Oh, really?

Yeah. I was like, no, literally. That's the reason. It's buoyancy, right? Yeah, like, even when they like made it as liquidy as they could, he like wouldn't go down past his chest. Yeah. Quick sand forms and water mixes are sand. sand or clay left alone this mixture will firm up over

time but if there's a rapid change in pressure like a person stepping onto it then it can quickly

lichify and cause them to sink but in the old jungle movies man they would die

it's a good way to lose a $20 hand card and we were all afraid afraid of quicksand as kids. The never-ending story made me terrified of quicksand. Isn't that the one where the kids like getting pulled in and the horse goes under? Oh, yeah. I think you're right. I think you're right. That kid, I thought there'd be a lot more quicksand and lava. Yeah. Lava everywhere.
